Welcome to "The Path," a blog where we delve into ancient wisdom teachings and explore their relevance in our modern lives. At the core of this journey is the transformative practice of yoga, as Yoga is a liberation teaching, given to us to help free us from the dramas and emotions of our daily lives. In embarking on this path, two essential qualities must be present: desire and a steadfast commitment to practice. Our ultimate aim is to attain self-knowledge and awareness, not to dazzle others with our achievements, but to harmonize our spirit with our thoughts and actions, leading to a more fulfilling existence.

Yoga is a tool that allows us physically to open our bodies. Our muscles, soften and lengthen and we feel a more powerful and we feel more powerful through the openness that we begin to experience physically and when we feel more open, we can more readily tap into something that we often call spirit- a feeling or sensation that shapes our dreams and our connection with the greater world. But in order to access our spiritual selves, we need to tend to our physical selves because body and spirit are not separate yoga keeps our bodies open enable us to access Spirit.
Openness is a powerful force that shapes our experiences and interactions. When we embrace an open heart and mind, we invite life to happen for us, rather than to us. This difference is profound; it positions us to engage with the world and its possibilities rather than react to circumstances with resignation or fear. Take a moment to think about when you feel open and when you feel closed. It is a great topic to journal.
The choice between openness and closure becomes increasingly apparent as we age. Some individuals choose the path of greater openness, finding joy and enrichment in the lessons and connections life offers. These individuals tend to cultivate deeper relationships, experience more profound joy, and often, maintain a sense of wonder about the world around them. They are receptive to new ideas, experiences, and perspectives, allowing them to grow continuously. Conversely, others may close off as they age, often fueled by past disappointments or fears. This path can lead to stagnation, isolation, and a restricted view of the world. In closing off, they may shield themselves from pain, but inadvertently also shut out joy, curiosity, and growth. The world becomes a place of threat rather than opportunity, diminishing their ability to connect meaningfully with others and limiting their experiences.Ultimately, the decision to remain open or to close off is ours to make.
Choosing openness is a conscious choice that impacts not only our own lives but also the lives of those around us. Openness requires vulnerability, the courage to embrace uncertainty, and the willingness to engage with the unknown. However, the rewards are immeasurable: deeper relationships, richer experiences, and a more fulfilling life. But remember, peace and happiness do not come without practice, stamina for change, and just hard work, but staying open invites growth. It allows us to adapt and respond to life’s challenges with resilience. It encourages empathy, understanding, and the ability to learn from diverse experiences. By keeping our hearts and minds open, we foster a positive mindset, enhancing our well-being and enriching the lives of others.
So I invite you all to remember and practice openness….it is a deliberate choice that drives our life direction. As we navigate through the complexities of aging and life experiences, may we choose to keep our hearts open, allowing life to unfold in all its beauty and richness. Embrace the journey, for when your heart is open, life indeed happens for you.
